It looks like doing damage
but it's really healing.
A clean needle
breaks a few capillaries,
injects insulin.
In the mirror,
she's reminded of her ex,
the one who rubber-wrapped
his veins so tight,
the first prick of a syringe
burst them.
He made his healthy body sick.
She's aiming for the reverse of that.
So these days she listens to her doctor,
not Matt. And there’s no need
to even have his baby.
